Duong Sen’s paintings are rustic but lively and poetic. Most notably, his technique for handling the lacquer colour array is very elaborate. His whole career is attached to traditional lacquer. It was not until 2014 that he tried his hand at oil painting to “change the food”, producing 45 oil paintings of landscapes for his 16th solo exhibition.
