NGUYEN TRUNG
Nguyen Trung (b. 1940) is sometimes called the father of Vietnamese Abstract Art. From a young age, he has had many noble achievements and awards. His paintings are sought after and exhibited nationally and internationally.
Typically, in 1969 – 1973, he was a founding member of the Saigon Young Painters Association; In 1992, together with the “Group of 10”, he held the largest exhibition of Abstract Paintings in Vietnamese history at that time (40 artists); Co-founder and editor of Vietnam Fine Arts Magazine in Ho Chi Minh City (1991 – 1997);…
During his 60 years of practice, he experienced many historical and political events in Vietnam. Painter Nguyen Trung still retains his unique abstract identity and style. With delicate and skilful oil painting techniques, it is not difficult to recognize Nguyen Trung’s paintings through novel shades, transparent and clear colours like a conch.
