Associate Professor Painter Nguyen Trong Cat was born in 1929 as a post-war and contemporary Vietnamese painter.

In 1955-1962, painter Trong Cat was one of 76 students of the To Ngoc Van course of the Vietnam College of Fine Arts (now Vietnam University of Fine Arts). After graduating, he became a lecturer at the school from 1962 to 1993. The artist also earned many other achievements, such as becoming a painting expert in the Congo (1988-1989); achieving the rank of Associate Professor.

He also won many national art awards. He was awarded the Medal for the cause of Vietnam’s Literature and Art and the Medal for Education.

Painter Trong Cat is also a member of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
