HO HUU THU

Ho Huu Thu (b. 1943) is one of the painters who have innovated Vietnamese lacquer since 1975. Boldly improving traditional techniques, he created a new colour with new materials. But the artistic effect is not inferior to other materials. The most important thing for him is to express the author’s visual feelings. He called this new technique “Son Phu Tho”.

Over the course of his career, he moved from impressionist painting, rising to surrealism, then moving to abstraction. Ho Huu Thu’s abstract oil and lacquer paintings are romantic and soaring. They seem to take the viewer into a fantasy world.
